I Need Space is a series of mixed media pieces created on paper that portray a narrative of angst, existential dread, and self-loathing. Many of the pieces combine a face in a neutral expression with disjointed dialogue scrawled and strewn as emanating thoughts. These portraits tell a story of turmoil trapped inside a facade; it is often that people can abscond spiraling struggles just beneath the surface. I created many of the pieces in single sessions, delving into a state on mind that was wrought with unstable emotions. The time in the studio presented an outlet to explore chaos and an unraveling of the mind.
