LUNA RUVEN

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a nomad by birth and spirit. My migration story has been that on average every 3 years, I call a different city my home. I also travel extensively for leisure and inspiration. People are often curious as to why I have moved so much. "The wind blows and I go with it", is my answer. It isn't that I don't want to stay, it is more that I don't hesitate to go when the opportunity presents itself.

My exploration in the arts has meandered through a spectrum of mediums over the years. Following my curiosity & creativity, I do not limit myself to a singular aesthetic or medium. For me, art is not about the output, but more about processing my emotions during the different eras of my life.  I don't know what each phase holds. It seems that every time I migrate cities, new inspiration, visions, and techniques arise.

My artistic influences include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollack, as well as Yayoi Kusama and Ruth Asawa .
I studied design in Milan, Italy, earning a MA in Design from Domus Academy.  I also studied woodworking, sculpture, and metal arts at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, USA.

I live with my teenage daughter and our two cats in Taipei, Taiwan.
Thank you for taking interest in my work.
